Branding + Squarespace Website: Terminus Design Group

Terminus Design Group is a collection of architects and designers with roots planted in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn Historic District.

After trying to DIY their branding and website for a while (and getting nowhere), Neil and Chris came to me with a clear vision of what they wanted but just didn’t know how to execute it on Squarespace.

First with the branding, if you’re familiar with Atlanta, you know all about Terminus. It has historical roots in this great city of ours and I wanted to do something that abstractly showed the intersection of it as well as be a graphic nod to their architectural talent.

Trusting someone random from the internet with their design business branding was a huge fear of Neil and Chris, but this project was launched in less than three weeks and they were thrilled with the end result.

“We just didn't have the time to get our branding across the finish line. We had a vision but we needed someone to step in and take the necessary time to help accomplish our goals. Our new company is off to the races, and we are proud to show our logos and website to the world. We were able to launch our company to the world on time, which was critical.

We were blown away by the ease of which to use the website - it is critical in our industry to make a great first impression, but also to allow clients to use an easy going website.”

Neil and Chris had a very clear idea of what they wanted for their site. A more minimalistic portfolio site, common in most design fields, but little nuances to make it stand out. The main goal was to let their work speak for itself. So loads of white space, grid usage, and something they could both easily replicate without having to always reach out to us was critical.

A few customizations done to this site:

  • Made gallery on home page hover to black and white to make it stand out from most Squarespace templates.

  • Project pages are broken up into two columns with the left being text and the right being the project images. Believe it or not this isn’t something capable in Squarespace anymore so a workaround solution had to be found that Terminus could easily replicate.

Most notably was the rush timeline of this project with full branding and a website completed in 2 1/2 weeks!
